Let’s face it, managing money can get pretty overwhelming at times.
We often get tired of the continued “limitations;” the constant planning; and sometimes, the slow results. We get this feeling that we’re not doing something right because things aren’t exactly how we want them to be. During those times, we just want to throw our budgets to the side and enjoy life to the fullest. Then reality sets in. We have responsibilities and financial goals that need to be achieved. It’s important to remind yourself that it’s a completely natural feeling; and that anything good takes time and discipline. We really have to remember that it’s a temporary feeling, and to not do anything drastic while we’re in this free spirited state of mind.
Budgeting is a continuous process that requires constant reality checks, self motivation, and discipline. If you become overwhelmed by your budget, don’t beat yourself up over it. Remember, it’s natural! Take time to think about what aspects of your budget are causing you to be overwhelmed. Remember what your goals are and take time to recenter yourself. Make new small, short term goals (i.e. daycations, new shoes, a nice dinner out, etc.). Whatever you do, DON’T stop your process completely! Dust yourself off and get back at it!
Continue to strive towards your goals and don’t give up!
